Cloop Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 2026-03-01 Last updated: 2026-02-15
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs what you can and cannot do with the Cloop platform. It is part of the Cloop Terms of Service. We keep this simple and practical.
1. The Basics
Cloop is a tool for helping your website visitors find answers in your content. Use it for that. Do not use it to harm, deceive, or abuse others.
2. You Must
- Own or have rights to the content you provide (websites you crawl, documents you upload)
- Inform your visitors that they are interacting with an AI chatbot (not a human)
- Review your Widget regularly to ensure the AI provides appropriate responses
- Respond to data subject requests from your visitors (you are the data controller)
- Keep your account credentials secure and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access
- Comply with applicable laws including GDPR, Finnish consumer protection, and any industry-specific regulations
3. You Must Not
3.1 Content Restrictions
- Upload or crawl content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringing on intellectual property rights
- Use the Widget to spread misinformation or present AI-generated content as human-authored professional advice (legal, medical, financial) without appropriate disclaimers
- Configure the bot persona to impersonate a real person without their consent
- Use Cloop to generate spam, phishing content, or misleading marketing
3.2 Data Collection Restrictions
- Do not configure the Widget to solicit sensitive personal data (health conditions, financial details, political views, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, biometric data) — these are special categories under GDPR Article 9
- Do not use Cloop to collect data from children (under 16, or the applicable age in your jurisdiction)
- Do not use lead capture to collect data for purposes other than what you disclose to visitors
3.3 Crawling Restrictions
- Do not crawl websites you do not own or have permission to index
- Do not use the demo/trial to crawl websites for competitive intelligence purposes (i.e., crawling a competitor's site to analyze their content, rather than evaluating Cloop on your own site)
- Do not attempt to crawl sites that block crawlers via robots.txt (this is enforced automatically)
3.4 Technical Restrictions
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the Cloop Widget source code or backend logic
- Do not attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, feature tier restrictions, or budget controls
- Do not attempt to access data from other tenants or exploit multi-tenant isolation
- Do not use automated tools to scrape, mine, or extract data from the Cloop API beyond normal Widget operation
- Do not modify the Widget code in ways that remove attribution, bypass security measures, or alter data collection behavior
- Do not use the platform for denial-of-service attacks, cryptocurrency mining, or any purpose unrelated to the intended service
3.5 AI Abuse
- Do not use prompt engineering to make the Widget generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
- Do not attempt to extract the system prompt or internal instructions through adversarial queries
- Do not use the Widget to circumvent AI safety measures or generate content that the underlying models are designed to refuse
4. Fair Use
The platform has built-in rate limits and budget controls. These exist to keep the service fair for everyone. If you need higher limits, contact us at support@cloop.io — we are happy to discuss.
Specific limits are applied per endpoint and per tenant. If you need higher limits for your use case, we're happy to discuss.
5. Enforcement
If we identify a violation of this AUP, we may:
- Notify you and request that you correct the issue
- Temporarily suspend the Widget or specific features
- Terminate your account in cases of serious or repeated violation
We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking action, except when immediate action is necessary to protect other users, the platform, or comply with law.
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of a Cloop customer violating this AUP (e.g., a widget on a website that appears to be engaging in phishing), please report it to abuse@cloop.io.
7. Changes
We may update this AUP as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated per the Terms of Service (30 days notice).
